HAPPY MOTHERS DAY 2016

It is only fitting that being Mother’s Day, my writing shall be on good old motherhood. It is interesting to me that we have specific days to even celebrate being a parent or having one. It is not something that is bestowed or earned, it just is. Perhaps these are dismal thoughts but I cannot help but to think not everyone has a mother alive to hug, share breakfast with or just conduct some happy bantering with. Then there are others who had tumultuous relationships with their momma’s or mothers who abandoned them or those that suffered deep emotional scars at the hand of a mom. I imagine this is a tough holiday for many.

It definitely makes me reflect on the blessings around me. I am totally undeserving but am able to enjoy the love of 5 of the best kids around! I am also lucky to have loving relationships with those that GOD placed in my life via other circumstances and that I think of as my own. I have a loving mom, who is spunky and humorous at the young age of 80 (almost). This not saying that me as a mom and me as a daughter have not endured struggles. Struggles and all, I know how blessed I truly am to celebrate my kids and my mom each and every day.

When we accept JESUS into our lives and grant him power over our souls and everything, we become part of another family. GOD’s family. And GOD tells us to Honor our mothers and fathers. That is a given. However, in Mathew 12:48-50 JESUS says “Who is my mother? And who are my brothers?” and he stretches his hand out toward HIS disciples and exclaims “Here is my mother and my brothers” For whoever does the will of my FATHER in heaven is my mother, my brother and my sister. (paraphrased)

All in all we are joined together. So if you find yourself missing your mother because she has passed, or perhaps you suffered as a child at the hands of a mom not so good; take heed, that we are all surrounded by a family in CHRIST, love abounding!

FATHER, thank YOU that no matter what our circumstances are or were, we possess the love of YOU inside. We no longer have to be graded by who we are or who we came from because ultimately we have COME from YOU. Forgive me FATHER for taking for granted the love of my own mother at times. Forgive me also LORD for not being the best mom to my own kids. Thank YOU for blessing me with wonderful kids and a loving and great mom. I ask LORD that you surround all those today that may have a hard time because of sad situations. FATHER, I ask in the name of CHRIST that you bring all those to YOU to be saved and reborn and have the peace, love and everlasting life that can be theirs just for the asking. AMEN
